Macam2 projek.

Kali ini bukan ada cerita apa sangat. Cuma nak berkongsi pasal projek2 yang tengah difikirkan ni. Mg depan, cuti sekolah bermula. Cuti selama 2 minggu. Kalau dah cuti, mulalah aku tak tahu nak buat apa. So, cuti kali ini dah ada plan sikit2. Ingat nak start buat sample unutk biskut2 raya. Kalau ada org2 sekitar Hamilton, NZ ni nak buat tempahan bolehla. Bukan nak buat banyak pun. Nak buat 4 jenis yg biskut yg biasa dibuat dgn arwah ibuku. Nak buat Biskut Chocolate Chip, Tart Nenas, London Almond dan biskut cornflakes. Masalahnya skrg tak tahu nak letak harga berapa. Kalau kat Msia tahula sbb ada harga2 standard. Ni nak kena ikut NZD. So, kena survey dulu. Nanti kalau dah ada sample, bolehla di tayangkan di sini. Satu lg projek, nak buat pelbagai kraf utuk mengisi masa anak2 nanti. Lps tu ada anak kwn yg akan ditumpangkan dirumah. Bolehla buat puppets guna stokin2 lama. (yg telah dibasuh ye). Lps tu nak beli pinggan kertas. Mcm2 jenis benda boleh dibuat dgn pinggan kertas tu. Semua brg2 boleh dibeli di kedai Dollar Store yg melambak2 kat Hammy ni. Ala macam Kedai 2 ringgit kat Msia tu. Hmmm.............kena buat planning betul2 ni. Ok nak pergi masak untuk dinner pulak. Chiow... Assalamualaikum.

Double Celebrations (Hafizah's and Jasmine's bday)

This entry is actually a continuation from "HafizahTurns 2 today!". As we have planned in the beginning of the term, we wanted to combine birthday's celebration as Hafizah n Jasmine shared the same birth date. I wanted to introduce something different at the playcentre. I wanted to share a special food from my culture with kiwi friends. So, I chose to make a yellow sticky rice cake or what we called in Bahasa Melayu as Pulut Kuning. The night before (24/06/09), I prepared the rice. In the morning, I fried some prawn crackers as I was afraid that the sticky rice was not going to be enough for everybody.

That morning, we had to set up the place as usual before everybody arrived at the playcentre. I went out to buy something for the decorations as I wanted the kids to decorate the sticky rice cake later. I bought a bag of halal marshmallows at the nearest dairy.

By 10 a.m., Kathy and Jasmine arrived at Peachgrove Playcentre. Kathy was not feeling well, but she still came and brought a chocolate cake made by her hubby to the playcentre. (sayang Kathy). She had to ice the cake with chocolate icing and decorated Jasmine's cake with some lollies. (kat sini semua jenis gula2 diaorg panggil lollies). At the same time, I asked some children to help me decorating the sticky rice cake with some parsley, strips of omellette and some marshmallows. They were so excited to help but at the end they wanted to eat the marshmallows more than decorating the cake!. :D

Then, it's time to sing Happy Birthday to the birthday girls. We sang "Happy Birthday" in English and Maori. I forgot to ask them to sing it in Bahasa Melayu as I had to write down the words first. (well, next time kena tulis dulu wordings tu). Jasmine only took few seconds to blow her candles. Hafizah refused to blow as we never really like to blow candles at home whenever we had birthday celebrations. So, Fathini and other kids helped her to blow out the candles. We (Kathy and I), cut the cakes and gave a piece of chocolate cake and a piece of sticky rice cake to everybody. Some kids refused to eat the sticky rice cake, but some really loved the cake. All of the adults loved the sticky rice cake as I also brought a bowl of beef curry to be eaten with the cake. Some adults asked for the recipe!. (kembang kempis hidung bila minah2 saleh puji sedap lps tu mintak reseipi pulak).

I was delightful with the little success of introducing part of my culture at Peachgrove Playcentre. It's good to know that they are quite open minded and always being supportive. Next term, I plan to introduce other things. (hmmm kena pikir2 dulu ni. kalau sesiapa ada idea, jgn malu2 untuk berkongsi ye. :D)

Kehilangan yg amat dirasai

Hari ini 24 Jun 2009, genap setahun pemergian arwah ibuku. Sememangnya kehilangannya amat2 ku rasai. Aku masih ingat bagaimana aku mendapat panggilan telefon dari adikku, Rafei' memberitahuku yg kami sudah kehilangan ibu tersayang. Terasa gelap duniaku seketika. Aku yg berada beribu batu dr bumi kelahiranku hanya mampu menangis semahunya. Hanya suamiku yg mampu menyabarkanku. Aku tidak boleh berfikir tentang perkara lain, selain aku mahu pulang ke Malaysia. Aku sedar yang aku tidak berpeluang untuk mengucup dahi arwah ibuku buat kali terakhir tetapi aku tetap mahu pulang melawat pusara ibuku dan berjumpa dengan ayah dan adik-adikku. Aku tahu ketika itu, adikku Yati yg ketika itu sedang belajar di Madrid, Sepanyol akan lebih terasa atas kehilangan ibu kerana dia lebih rapat dgn arwah ibu. Sangkaanku tepat apabila aku menerima panggilan telefon darinya tengah mlm tersebut. Kami sama2 tidak mampu berkata2 dan agak sebak. Aku terpaksa menguatkan perasaan kerana aku perlu memujuknya supaya bersabar.
Lima hari selepas itu, barulah aku selamat sampai di bumi kelahiranku (Tumpat, Kelantan). Kali ini kepulangan yg tidak di sangka2. Sepanjang perjalanan pulang dr Auckland-Kuala Lumpur-Kota Bharu, aku tidak henti2 memikirkan apa yg akan terjadi selepas ini. Bagaimana kami boleh meneruskan hidup tanpa ibu kami. Adik2 ku yg masih bersekolah masih memerlukan ibu dan kami yg sudah dewasa juga masih memerlukan ibu. Aku tahu ayahku mampu untuk menjaga adik2 ku tetapi sudah tentu dalam situasi yg berbeza. Pada mlm ketibaan, aku tidak boleh untuk melelapkan mata. Aku terasa yg semua ini hanyalah mimpi. Apabila aku terjaga, aku masih lg boleh berjumpa ibuku.
Keesokan harinya ak, suami dan anak2 ku melawat pusara ibuku. Kami membaca Yaasin dan berdoa agar rohnya akan termasuk dlm golongan orang2 yg beriman. Anak sulungku yg berumur 3 thn masih tidak faham kenapa kami melawat pusara ibuku. Dia masih tidak faham yg dia telah kehilangan neneknya. "Mama, kenapa kita kat sini?", ujar Fathini. "Tini, ni kubur arwah ma. Ma dah tak ada. Tini dah tak boleh jumpa dia". Aku berharap yg dia akan lebih memahami apa yg telah terjadi apabila dia lebih matang. Aku lebih terasa sebak apabila aku memandang anak keduaku. Arwah ibuku, tidak sempat mengenali Hafizah kerana dia dilahirkan di New Zealand. Arwah ibuku hanya dapat menetap gambar2 Hafizah dan mellihatnya dr webcam. Menurut saudara-maraku, arwah ibuku selalu bercerita tentang cucu keduanya pada mereka. Arwah begitu gembira dan berharap dpt berjumpa dgn cucu keduanya suatu hari kelak. :(
Adik bongsuku hanya membisu dan tidak mampu untuk bercakap. Dia yg berumur 14 tahun, begitu sedih dan terasa. Aku berjanji padanya yang aku akan menjaganya apabila aku pulang semula ke Malaysia. Aku tahu yg aku tidak boleh menggantikan tempat ibukku, tetapi sekurang-kurangnya dia ada tempat bergantung dan ada tempat untuk meluahkan perasaan. Adik-adikku yg lain sudah boleh berdikari. Aku hanya ada 2 adik perempuan dan 5 adik lelaki. Jadi, aku lebih rapat dgn adik2 perempuanku dan adik2 lelakiku seperti lelaki2 yg lain susah untuk meluahkan perasaan sedih mereka.
Tahun ini, hidup kami sudah amat berbeza. Ayahku sudah berkahwin lain. Adik2 ku yg masih bersekolah, masih di bawah jagaan ayahku. Yg sudah dewasa ada hidup2 masing2. Aku dapat melihat yg adik2 ku semakin dewasa. Begitu juga adik2 arwah ibuku. Ayah saudara bongsuku, skrg sudah mampu menjaga kilang bata peninggalan arwah datukku dan dia lebih berbahagia selepas berkahwin. Mak Ngahku selalu mengambil berat tentang kami dan Mak Cik juga sanggup menawarkan diri untuk menjaga adik2 ku yg masih bersekolah.

Hafizah's turns 2 today!

Hafizah turned 2 today! My baby's not a baby anymore. (nak baby lg tapi tak nak skrg sbb tak larat nak jaga. huhu). We celebrated her birthday at home as there'll be another celebration at the playcentre on Thursday. She will be celebrating her birthday with her "twin", Jasmine. (saja nak buat kat situ sbb nak kenalkan pd kiwis pulut kuning. plan nak masak pulut kuning nanti). I baked apple cake for her. I used butter icing on top. Then, I sprinkled dessicated coconut. Fathini, my eldest daughter, helped me to arrange chocolate chips at the sides. She also helped to arrange some apricots on top. At first, I wanted to decorated the top of the cake with some icing flowers but then the icing was looked too sloppy. So, I just managed to write no 2 in the middle. (susahla sbb aku bukannya pakar sgt dlm buat aising ni. kena berguru lg la nampaknya).

We waited for my hubby to come home. But, my daughters especially Hafizah couldn't wait any longer. By 6 p.m., we had a little celebration. My sis-in-law helped to take picture of us and joined in too. We sang for the birthday girl and she looked a little bit blurry. (rasanya dia tak faham sgt pasal b'day ni. Yg dia tahu nak makan kek). I helped to cut the cake and we enjoyed eating the cake. I remembered that last year, two days after we celebrated Hafizah's birthday, I lost my mum. Time really flies as today, she has turned 2 and two days from today will mark a year after my mum's death. :(
Life has to go on and I know that my other siblings too can feel what I feel. ....to be continued with the celebration in the playcentre. tunggggu.....

Nak buat burger patties sendiri?

Kali ini saya ingin berkongsi satu resipi mudah yang boleh menjimatkan belanja di waktu ekonomi yang tak menentu sekarang ni. Sebenarnya saya terpaksa berfikir macam mana nak menjimatkan belanja kerana kami bergantung sepenuhnya dengan duit biasiswa suami saya. Jika dulu sewaktu kami di Malaysia, saya memanglah agak malas untuk memasak. (yelah nak makan apa pun beli je kat kedai. mentang2 ada duit gaji sendiri). Sejak datang ke Hamilton, New Zealand ni (sejak awal tahun 2007), saya terpaksa belajar2 memasak dan bertanyakan resipi dari org2 yg mahir memasak.
Okaylah sekarang saya nak bagitahu macammana nak buat burger patties sendiri.
Bahan-bahannya:
1) 1/2 kg daging hancur (minced meat- kalau suka lamb, beli lamb dan kalau ada daging ayam pun boleh)

2) 1 atau 2 biji telur (ini bergantung kerana jika anda rasa daging tidak melekat elok, anda perlu 2 biji telur)

3) Breadcrumbs (serbuk roti)

4) sedikit lada hitam

5) sedikit sos tomato/sos BBQ

6) sedikit garam

7) jika anda suka, boleh tambahkan sedikit dried mixed herbs.

Cara-caranya senang sangat2. Hanya pecah telur ke dalam bekas yang berisi daging hancur. Kemudian campurkan lada hitam, daging, sos tomato, mixed herbs dan garam secukupnya. Akhir sekali masukkan breadcrumbs. Selepas itu, bolehlah dibentukkan menjadi daging burger dengan mengambil sedikit dan bentukkan di atas tapak tangan anda. Kalau dilihat pada gambar di atas, bentuk daging burger saya tidaklah sempurna. (yelah amatuer punya kerja. :P). Seelok-eloknya daging ini di simpan semalaman di bahagian sejuk beku. Anda boleh menggunkannya keesokan hari. Selamat mencuba. :D

CONTEST AKSI MENARIK KETIKA ANAK TIDO

Kali ini saya nak cuba masuk contest "Aksi Menarik Ketika Anak Tido" yang dianjurkan oleh Mama Uzma. Sebenarnya kalau diikutkan hanya anak kedua saya yang bernama Hafizah bt. Ariff saja yang layak masuk ke kategori umur 1-3 tahun. Akan tetapi kebanyakan gambar-gambar tido Hafizah mesti ada kakaknya Fathini.(yang dah berumur 4 tahun). Hafizah sekarang sudah berumur 2 tahun. Gambar ini diambil semasa Hafizah berumur 14 bulan. Slogan untuk gambar ini: "Lihat diriku yang tidur meniarap dengan seluar terbalik". Saya telah memilih gambar ini kerana saya rasa ia menunjukkan betapa rapatnya anak-anak saya yang selalu bermain, bergaduh, makan, tidur, mandi bersama. Harap-harap penyertaan ini akan dapat perhatian dari Mama Uzma.

ZARA SHOPPE : FATHER'S DAY CONTEST

This is my attempt of entering another father's day contest. I chose this lovely picture because it's a special picture of my hubby (Ariff Khalid) with our daughters Fathini and Hafizah. It was taken at the Raglan beach (about 1 hour 45 minutes drive from Hamilton, New Zealand). We had a lovely picnic there eventhough the beach was a perfect place for surfers. (We didn't surf as we just want to enjoy the scenery). My daughters had never went to any beach before and they had a wonderful time there. My hubby was happy to spend time with us. He made sandcastles with our daughters and took them to the edge of the seaside. Eventhough it was quite hot (well, it was during last summer - February 2008), it was still a memorable moment for us here in New Zealand. We will always cherish this moment.

Father's Day Contest

This entry is another attempt of entering a contest.( Thanks to Mama Tisya who organized this contest). It's Father's Day Contest. After I've given so much thought of which picture is best picture to show my hubby's love to our daughters, I came across this picture which was taken in 2006. We went to Tasik Kelana Jaya which was not far from our house. Fathini (my eldest daughter) was afraid to try on the swing. So, my hubby(Ariff Khalid) decided to take her to the swing and helped her to overcame her fear. It was a lovely moment for me. She was only about 13 months during that time. Now she gets too excited whenever she sees any swing! She is 4 years old now and my guess is she has become confident to play because of the encouragement and the love she gets from both of us but most importantly from her father. This Father's Day, we plan to celebrate it at home. I will prepare special meal and bake a cake for my hubby. He is truly a special person as we love him as a husband and a father. I consider myself lucky enough. :D

I came across this contest when I was blog hopping. I''m quite new in the blog's world. So, this is the first time I"m trying to enter a contest. I hope I can enter other contests in the future. Let me explain a bit about the picture. This is Hafizah, my youngest daughter (so far). She is going to turn 2 in few weeks time. Her birth date is 22 June 2007. She deserves to win this contest because she can pose naturally in front of camera. Well, maybe not as well as other babies who used to be models or magazine's cover. I snapped this picture when she was about to drink from her sippy cup. It's her favourite cup.
