Coin Deposit Machine
I just knew that there's a Coin Deposit Machine now at some branches of some major banks. So, go and find your piggy bank and it's time to deposit all of your coins. I'm going to deposit mine too since, I always keep the small change in a container. At least I can turn those coins into my rainy days saving. This kind of machine is not so popular yet as we can't find any in some states.

A Bosnian Muslim pilgrim who left last December 2011 on pilgrimage to Makkah by foot told AFP on Monday that he has arrived after passing through seven countries including war-torn Syria.

“I arrived Saturday in Makkah. I am not tired, these are the best days
of my life,” Senad Hadzic, 47, said when reached by phone on a Saudi
mobile number.
He said he had covered some 5,700 kilometres (3,540 miles) in 314 days of walking through Bosnia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Syria and Jordan to the Muslim holy city in south-western Saudi Arabia, with a backpack weighing 20 kilos (44 pounds).
He charted his progress on his Facebook page, where he posted a picture apparently of an entry/exit card for foreigners issued by the Syrian interior ministry.
“I passed through Syria in April. I walked some 500 kilometres in 11 days. I went through Aleppo and Damascus and passed dozens of check-points held by pro-government and rebel forces alike, but I was never detained,” Hadzic said.
“At a check-point held by (President Bashar) al-Assad’s forces the soldier ordered me to empty my backpack... When I showed them my Quran and explained I was making the pilgrimage on foot, they let me go,” he told AFP.
“I walked in the name of Allah, for Islam, for Bosnia-Hercegovina, for my parents and my sister,” he added.
On his Facebook page he said God had shown him the way in dreams, including to go through Syria instead of Iraq.
During the pilgrimage, Hadzic faced temperatures ranging from minus 35 Celsius in Bulgaria to plus 44 Celsius in Jordan.
He said he had to wait in Istanbul for several weeks to get permission to cross the Bosphorus Bridge on foot and two months at the border between Jordan and Saudi Arabia to obtain an entry visa.

Chefs rely heavily on their sense of taste and smell to cook -- especially if they're blind like MasterChef contestant Christine Ha.
"I have to depend a lot more on the other senses to cook -- taste, smell, how certain ingredients feel," she tells PEOPLE. "I'll know if a piece of meat is close to being done by how it feels against my hand or utensils."
Christine, 33, has been diagnosed with neuromyelitis optica (NMO), a condition of the central nervous system that affects the optic nerves and spinal cord.
"The very first bout I had was in 1999," she says of the condition. "It only happened in one eye then. It didn't recover completely so I learned to adjust to seeing out of one eye. In 2004, it decreased to the level where I could no longer drive. In 2007, it decreased to where I am now. I have to use a cane to walk around or take somebody's arm and be guided."
Christine is ready to prove herself on the show, which premieres Monday (9 p.m. ET) on Fox. "It's hard to see ingredients," she says. "I have to figure out by smell and touch if an ingredient is fresh. Cutting with knives -- fortunately, I'm pretty careful and I have a proper knife technique. Since I've lost my vision, I've cut myself once. And it was minor. I've never had to get stitches. It's really about being organized, careful and using my other senses."
And she won't be getting any special help from the judges Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot and Joe Bastianich. "Joe, Gordon and Graham didn't treat me any differently," she says. "They told me what was wrong and right with my dish. There was constructive criticism. I feel like they judged fairly."
Still, nerves were a factor for Christine when she began the competition. "I had never been this nervous in my life -- even on my wedding day," she says. "It was the most anxiety I've felt in a day. It's already scary to be in an environment you can't soak up visually what's happening around you. It was challenging and scary."

WE HAVE WITNESSED SO MANY DISABLED PEOPLE ALWAYS DETERMINE TO PROVE THEMSELVES OVER AND OVER AGAIN. THEY LOVE TO DEFY THE ODDS AND NEVER FEEL THAT THEIR DISABILITY CAN STOP THEM FROM DOING WHAT THEY WANT OR TO PURSUE THEIR AMBITION. SOMETIMES I FEEL SO ASHAMED WHEN I FEEL HELPLESS EVEN THOUGH I FULLY CAPABLE TO CHANGE THE SITUATION.

Happy Teacher's Day
Salam,
16th May every year, we celebrate Teacher's Day. It's a day when we show our appreciatiation to our teachers. I know that I owe a lot to my ex-teachers from kindy up to the lecturers in UKM. All of them have made some impacts in my life. They are responsible in shaping me to be who I am today. Of course my first teachers would be my parents. My late mom (ma) was a teacher (by profession) and she inspired me to choose this profession as a career. My father (abah) has played his own role too in teaching me how to use languages (BM &especially English) correctly. My aunts are also teachers and somehow they influenced me to be like them.
I love to share this quotation today:
"The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires". - William Arthur Ward.
I hope that I can be a great teacher in my students' eyes. To inspire other people is not an easy task but I shall try as I want to change their life like what my previous teachers have done to mine.

Teach for the needs.
Salam,
I found this interesting website for those who love to volunteer. This is for a good course and they need teachers or anybody who can help out the poor students. So, what is it about?

Teach For The Needs is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that is enlisting Malaysia’s most promising future teachers in our mission to end education inequity. The Teach For The Needs is a whole-year, full-time and paid-less development programme modelled towards giving the right and chances to the student in need initiative. Teach For The Needs will be officially announced after one month trial of the first batch starting this 19 March 2012.

How many of you would still forgive after something really bad happened to you?

He became a victim to some unscrupulous teenagers in London. He also became popular when the video of the assault has become a hit on YOU TUBE. He was attacked and then mugged by those who first looked like helping him. He suffered from broken jaw.
What I want to highlight today is not about the assault anymore. I want to share how this boy can forgive those who had assaulted and mugged him. He doesn't hold any grudge at all. How many of us would still forgive after something bad really happened to you? Somehow we can learn this lesson from Mod Asyraf Haziq.

WHO has not heard of the Malaysian student who was mugged in an attack and then robbed by the very people who had initially helped him up to his feet?
Twenty-year-old Mohd Asyraf Haziq Rossli's life has changed into one that he never dreamt would have been possible.
"Poor boy," said a cab driver, who had seen the 75-second video on YouTube several times.
He even read a local newspaper in Urdu about the press conference where Asyraf had expressed sadness for the people who did the dastardly act, for there were some young ones involved, too.
"He is very matured to forgive his attackers," said the nurse at my friend's hospital bedside, when I visited him.
"The people of the Netherlands would like to show their sympathy and we would like to interview him, if you can help us," said a man with a Dutch accent at the end of the line, coaxing me to give him contact numbers that would help him get an exclusive angle of the story.
Unbeknown to him, other press had also contacted me to gain access to the boy who had gained celebrity status, albeit with a broken lower jaw. There was nothing I could do as I wanted an exclusive myself.
On his hospital bed at the Royal London Hospital in East London, while awaiting surgery, he was unaware of a group of journalists waiting at the lobby for a chance to talk to anyone who knew him.
Failing to get him, the Western media
resorted to the only source they could get online -- another YouTube clip of his interview and conversation from his hospital bedside.
There were interpretations to his answers in an attempt to sensationalise his answers.
When he said he thought they were carrying knives, it was reported that they threatened to stab him.
Asyraf, a quiet and unassuming 20-year-old who looks much younger than his age, did not court this attention but he has become an iconic image that emerged after four days of serious rioting in London and several cities in Britain.
The attack had prompted the Britain prime minister to say, "When we see the disgusting sight of a young man with people pretending to help him while they are robbing him, it is clear that there are things badly wrong with our society."
His misfortune had sparked off Tweeterers and Facebookers to start campaigns, from finding his attackers to collecting donations to replace his lost belongings; a STG60 (RM300) bicycle, a handphone and a PlayStation portable. An owner of a bicycle shop had offered to give him a free bicycle, but Asyraf jokingly said, "No, no more bikes. I will take the bus from now on."
During a press conference at the Malaysian High Commission in Belgrave Square, Asyraf, although in pain after the surgery, tried to answer questions fielded by the international media. But one answer resonated loud and clear and summed up the problem of the London riots.
"I feel sorry for them. But it was really sad because amongst them there were children. It was very sad. It was quite shocking."
Images of the riots showing young people, some as young as 11 years, destroying properties and looting had triggered debates about what had gone wrong with the young generation, and who was to be blamed -- the government, the education system or the parents.
For someone so young to just arrive in a country and see people his age roaming in the streets late into the night causing destruction to public properties, was indeed shocking.

Just won something nice from ParentThots for my e-mail about "How to encourage our children to read".

I published this entry post in the beginning of April. Today, I got a message in the shout out box from Munira who told me that I won the prize. Now, let me take you back to the previous post and then I'm also going to share the e-mail that I sent to Parent Thots.

I came across this interesting announcement in FB on ParentThots page. It's a good opportunity to parents with young kids to try their luck. What you have to do is just send and e-mail to parenthots@thestar.com.my. What should you write in your e-mail? Well, they just want to know how do we teach our young kids how to read.
The best (most creative, inspiring, unique) email per month wins 1 set of Disney School Skills workbooks, thanks to Scholastic.
This promotion goes on from April 1 (no, this isn't an April Fool's joke) right up till Sept 30 as we have 6 sets of workbooks to give away.

My husband and I both love reading. That's why encouraging our children is not a huge task for us at all since we both want to be the best role models to our children aged six and four. Basically, we have done everything we could to make sure that our children will see the habit of reading as something enjoyable.
So here are some of the methods that we've tried so far:
1- Bring our children to the nearest library every week.
We used to live in Hamilton, New Zealand, for 3 1/2 years. There are some local libraries available there for everybody. So, every week without fail, we would bring our children to Hillcrest Library to borrow some books, CDs and puzzles. They really love to spend their time there. Right now, we make sure that we will buy some books every month so we can have our own mini library soon!
2- Spend about 30 minutes per day to teach them phonemes.
The best way to teach is to make sure that it's going to be an interesting approach like using starfall.com as a tool or any kind of teaching tools. I used flashcards with my eldest daughter but with my second daughter, I have to let her choose what she likes to do as she has a shorter attention span compared to her sister.
3- Play “I spy with my little eyes" whenever we go out.
It's a must for us to play this game because it can also help me to redirect their attention while waiting in the car before we reach our destination. As both of them have recognised letters and even phonemes, I always ask them to spot some words or letters around them.
4- Prepare a nice corner or even a conducive room for our kids to learn.
Kids love to see something colourful and exciting. So, we have dedicated a special corner with a special bookcase, table and chairs for them to sit and read their favaourite books. They can use the place any time they like and they have regarded it as their special place to have fun!
5- Story time every night.
This is a must even when we are so tired and busy. At least we will spend about 10 minutes to tell a simple story or choose a page from their favourite story book. Sometimes we even create our own story when we want our imagination to run wild!
6- Make a book as MUST for their birthday present.
Every time other people ask what to buy for our kids' birthdays, we prefer that they buy more books rather than toys. Our kids love them too and they never get tired or bored with books compared to toys. They will only get excited about new toys for few weeks and then they will completely forget about the toys.
Well, those are among the things we have practised and done to instil the love in reading. Now, our job is easier as our kids never feel the pressure for them to learn how to read.
Alhamdulillah for this and it's actually a first time for me winning a contest that requires a creative input. My daughters are going to like the presents so much as they always love to have new workbooks.

Salam,
12 February 2002- We were engaged in a small but meaningful ceremony. Only the closest family members and neighbours were invited. My late mum was so happy organizing everything to make sure everything went on smoothly.
28th November 2003- We got married in the nearest mosque in my village. We had to wait for the Tok Kadi for quite some time since his own daughter got married on the same day! My abah was so nervous because it was the first time for him to let go one of his beloved daughters. The solemnization went on with some other hiccups like my hubby had to repeat about 4 times before we were declared as husband and wife. huhu
28th November 2010- 7 years later, we are still happily married with two lovely daughters. Alhamdulillah-Thanks to Allah to let us experience this happiness. We are hoping to be together until the end. All the hiccups will always be tools to let us appreciate each other more each day,month and year.

iPad Frenzy: Are you as excited as the others?

Last night I watched this news on TVNZ about the iPad frenzy in New York and Seattle. People who were so excited in buying the latest technology device, lined up in front of Apple stores even before the stores were opened for business.
Do you know what is iPad? Frankly speaking, I was not really aware about this latest hype as I don't really follow or buy the latest devices unless I really need them. Well, of course money is the biggest issue for me. The latest gadget or device would be so costly and I would think 100x times as there are other important things that I need.
Here's a bit of information about iPad from Wikipedia:
The iPad is a tablet computer developed by Apple Inc. Announced on January 27, 2010, it is positioned in a category between a smartphone and a laptop computer.[10]

Before you get so excited and want to join the others who had purchased it, you have the right to know about that an iPad doesn't have a built-in camera, USB drive and CD slot. Thus it makes it offer a limited software which might not be so desirable by certain people.

For now, Apple is selling versions of the iPad that can only connect to the internet using Wi-Fi. Those models start at US$499. (NZ$706.) Versions that also have a cellular data connection will be available by the end of the month. All right. Now what say you? Are you excited and can't wait to get this new device for yourself or you are like me who would rather wait until the device is proven useful first. But the downside of that by the time I want to buy one, there'll be another cool device which might be 100x better and hype. huhu. One thing you have to remember is, technology like this is evolving and easily become obsolete.

Takziah buat Kak Mazura sekeluarga. (BM entry)
Hr ni kami semua di Hammy (nama manja Hamilton) ni mendapat berita berkenaan pemergiaan ayahanda Kak Mazura; Dr. Anuar Nor Arai. Kak Mazura adalah salah seorang dari kami yg sedang melanjutkan pelajarannya (PHD) di Waikato University. Berita tentang pemergiaan arwah ada disiarkan di Utusan Malaysia hari ini 21 Januari 2010.
Inilah antara cabaran yg berat buat sesiapa yg berada jauh beribu batu dari keluarga tersayang. Saya juga pernah mengalami keadaan yg sama apabila arwah ibu saya meninggal dunia pada 24 Jun 2008. Kami sekeluarga hanya mampu pulang seminggu slps itu.
Kami hanya mampu turut berdoa semoga arwah di letakkan di kalangan orang-orang yg beriman. Al-Fatihah. Malam ini sepatutnya hanya kaum lelaki yg akan berkumpul di rumah K.Mazura untuk kenduri tahlil tetapi saya juga akan menghadirinya kerana ingin berjumpa sendiri dgn K.Mazura. Oh ye saya juga bercadang nak membawa sedikit mknan utk dijamu slps bacaan Yaasin. (kami agak rapat juga sbb rumah kami boelh dikatakan agak dekat).
Dr. Anuar Nor Arai meninggal dunia
SHAH ALAM 20 Jan. - Dr. Anuar Nor Arai (gambar) yang pernah mencipta sejarah dalam bidang perfileman tanah air kerana mengarah filem dengan durasi terpanjang selama lima jam berjudul Johnny Bikin Filem, meninggal dunia di Pusat Perubatan Selangor di sini hari ini.
Allahyarham yang berusia 66 tahun menghadapi komplikasi paru-paru.
Beliau menghembuskan nafas terakhir pada pukul 5.25 petang di sisi isterinya, Zahrah Ibrahim serta tiga anaknya iaitu Mazura, 39, Zuraira, 37, dan Ifa Mutiara, 36.
Menurut Zuraira, selain aktif menulis skrip dan mengarah filem sejak tahun 1980-an, Allahyarham atau nama sebenarnya Anuar Mohd. Nor @ Arai juga merupakan Timbalan Rektor di Akademi Seni Budaya Dan Warisan Kebangsaan (Aswara).
Katanya, bapanya juga adalah pensyarah dan Dekan Fakulti Filem di Aswara.
''Johnny Bikin Filem merupakan filem arahannya pada penghujung tahun 1980-an yang masih belum ditayangkan sehingga kini," katanya kepada Utusan Malaysia ketika dihubungi hari ini.
Difahamkan Johnny Bikin Filem dihasilkan dengan durasi lima jam sebagai bahan rujukan akademi terutamanya untuk para pelajar jurusan perfileman tempatan dan ia juga telah disunting menjadi sekitar 90 minit untuk tayangan umum yang belum ditentukan tarikhnya lagi.
Tambah Zuraira, Allahyarham yang juga terkenal sebagai pengkritik filem dan meninggalkan sembilan cucu akan disembahyangkan di Masjid Ubudiah Seksyen 19 pada pukul 11 pagi esok sebelum jenazahnya dikebumikan di Tanah Perkuburan Islam Seksyen 21 di sini.
