This is a continuation for entry I wrote before. As this is still the Te Reo Maori week her in New Zealand, we need to practice to speak (korero) in Maori. Today 30 July 2009, we practiced some Maori songs (Waiata Maori) at Peachgrove Playcentre. Fathini (my eldest daughter) started to sing some Maori songs since yesterday. I want to share some songs that we sang today.

Children love this song as they only have to do some actions as required. Fathini was singing this song since yesterday when my hubby watched his favourite programme on tv(Top Gear). He thought that she was singing something in our language. (dah bunyi mcm nak sama kdg2). We also sing the birthday song in Maori language everytime we have the birthday celebration there. I think the last song (Waiata) that I'm going to share today is the favourite song for both my daughters which is "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star". Some people might wonder why do I want to share about other people's language? Well, this is just my effort of learning a new language and it's also a reminder for me that we have to cherish our language. A language is supposed to be evolved and if we get more people who can speak the language, definately the language won't die. Okay let's look at the lyrics for "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star".

Hari ni nak bgtahu semua yg kami tengah berkira2 hari bila my MIL & FIL nak dtg ke sini. Dah hampir 2 thn tak berjumpa diaorg ni. My eldest daughter Fathini, memang seronok bila tahu opah dan tok dia nak dtg sini. Hari2 tanya bila lg diaorg nak sampai. Mmg Fathini rapat dgn opah & tok dia sbb dulu kami tinggal di rumah my parents in-law di Kelana Jaya. Diaorg dijadualkan sampai di Auckland International Airport pada 6 Ogos ni. My hubby akan ambik diaorg. My daughters, my SIL and I akan tunggu di rumah. (kereta kami kecik je, tak muat nak pergi ramai2). So, dlm 7 hr lg la diaorg akan sampai.
Kami dah buat persiapan sikit. Kami dah beli brg2 yg diperlukan. Rumah sewa kami ni ada 2 bilik je. Satu kami guna anak-beranak dan satu lg my SIL yg guna. Nanti maybe my parents-in-law akan guna bilik anak perempuan diaorg la kot. Or maybe kitaorg bg bilik komputer. (tempat aku blogging hr2 ni). Nak tengok apa brg2 yg dah kami beli? Sebenarnya bukan Fathini je yg seronok diaorg nak dtg ni. Aku pun seronok sbb my hubby cakap bila diaorg dtg nanti nak bawa diaorg berjln2. Bolehla nak pergi Rotorua (famous dgn geisers), Northland and maybe nak pergi main snow kat Mt. Ruapehu. Lepas tu Fathini pun nak bawa Opah dan Tok dia pergi Peachgrove Playcentre. Dia nak tunjuk sekolah dia. Aku pulak kenala tunjuk skill memasak. hehehe. Boleh masakkan diaorg mcm2 nanti. My MIL tu kerja kat Uni di Madinah. Sblm ni diaorg duduk kat Madinah. Skrg ni diaorg dah balik Msia kejap sblm dtg sini. Kami pun dah buat senarai nak kirim brg2 sikit. Yelah ada jugak benda2 yg kitaorg teringin yg susah nak cari kat NZ ni. My hubby sebenarnya dah cuba inflate air bed tu. Lps tu tak pasal2 ada benda kat dalam nozzle pump tu patah. Masa nak deflate punyalah seksa sbb kiatorg kena tolong pijak2 keluarkan angin dr air bed tu. Patutnya senang je sbb boleh guna vacuum cleaner. isk3x. Nanti tak tahula mcmmana. Hmm oklah nak kena masuk dapur lak. Nak buat mee sup utk mkn mlm. Ka Ki Te Ano. (See you again next time).
Today I decided to share about some phrases and words in Maori language. Maori language is the language spoken by Maori (the indigeneous inhabitants) here in Aotearoa (New Zealand). Aotearoa means the land of the long white cloud. Since they are now promoting this language during this language week, I would like to share this with those who read my blog too. (yes, you!).
When you want to greet people, normally you can use "Kia ora" which means hello and it can also means bye. They call man as "Tane" and woman as "Wahine". How do you want to pronouce it? Well, just pronounce teh words according to the spelling. They are some words that are similar to my first language, Bahasa Melayu. The words are "Ika" as we call it "Ikan", number two in Maori is called "Rua" as in Bahasa Melayu we call it "Dua" and Ears are called "Taringa" in Maori while in Bahasa Melayu, we call ears "Telinga".
Kiwis or New Zealanders are called as "Pakeha" in Te Reo Maori. All Blacks, their national team for rugby always perform "Haka". It's actually a form of dance. Well, they are well-known with this kind of special dance that they perform before they start the match.
If you want to ask "What's your name?", you just have to say "Ko wai to ingoa?". The reply should be like "Ko Nuradyani taku ingoa"(my name is Nuradyani). If you don't no any other things to say, just say "He aha?"that means What?.
Okay I need to dash now. This is only my small effort to learn new language as I've been here for quite some time. (I won't forget my mother tongue, Bahasa Melayu though!) I really love to pick up new language and it's always good to learn othe people's language as well as their culture. Good luck in trying Korero Te Reo Maori.
Hr ni aku terasa nak menulis pasal memasak. (sila tengok tajuk). Bukan nak berkongsi resepi tapi nak bercerita sikit pasal pengalaman memasak di perantauan ni. Dulu2, aku ni malas sikit nak masuk dapur. Kalau masuk dapur pun, setakat nak masak nasi, goreng lauk dan goreng sayur. Tu pun ada supervisor. (saper lg kalau tak arwah ma). Kalau aku memasak ni, dr dulu2 lagi aku selalu je ada masalah dgn rasa. Sbbnya aku ni tak suka makan masin2 sgt. Arwah ma selalu menegur pasal ni. Aku pernah merajuk bila masakanku di komen oleh arwah ma. (menyesal merajuk dgn mak sendiri sbb menyusahkan dia jer. huhu).
Okay, skrg aku nak menyenaraikan sebab2 aku suka memasak skrg:
Dah namanya jadi surirumah skrg, kenala memasak untuk suami dgn anak2.
Banyak masa terluang skrg, jadi banyakla masa untuk memasak dan buat eksperimen memasak.
Anak2 pula kedua-duanya perempuan, jadi diaorg pun rajin nak menolong walaupun masih kecil. (Yg sulung tu dah bolehla buat yg senang2 sbb dah umur 4 thn).
Kat sini (Hamilton, New Zealand) tak banyak kedai makan halal, jadi kalau terasa nak makan apa2 yg special, kenala berusaha memasak sendiri.
Kawan2 kat sini pun ramai jugak dari Malaysia. Diaorg pun rajin mencuba pelbagai resepi. Jadi macam ada motivasi dr kawan2 jugak. Lps tu tok guru pakar masak pun ramai. (K.As la antara tok guruku ).
Adikku yg skrg tinggal di Fukuoka, Jepun pun makin rajin mencuba pelbagai resepi. Jadi kami ni mcm nak berlumba2 nak jadi hebat dlm bidang masakan.
Tiap kali memasak, mesti teringat arwah ma. Arwah ma memang terkenal di sekolahnya dan di kampung, dgn kepandaiannya dlm bidang masakan. Jadi, aku pun kalau boleh nak jadi pandai walaupun tak sehebat arwah ma.
Suamiku juga selalu bagi galakan untuk mencuba pelnagai jenis masakan. Yg bagusnya dia tak cerewet. Jadi diala tukang komen, tukang rasa dan bg kritikan membina. (biasala kalau kritik tu berlapik2 sbb tak nak aku merajuk tak nak masak dah lain kali. hehehe)
Memasak ni boleh dijadikan sumber pendapatan. Aku adala ambik tempahan sikit2 dr kwn di sini. Biasanya diaorg tempah kek sbb aku memang rajin buat kek.
Hmm apa lagi sbbnya. Jap......sebenarnya kalau tak masak, alamaknya kebulurla kami di perantauan ni. heheheh.
Hari ini, aku terasa mcm nak masuk satu lg contest. Sebenarnya terjumpa contest masa menjengah blog org lain. Contest ni anjuran Ibu Addin & Nasa. Apa yg perlu dibuat? Okay mari kita tengok:

Okaylah skrg masanya untuk berkongsi pengalamanku melahirkan anak pertamaku "Fathini".
Tanggal 8 Januari 2005, aku mula merasakan kesakitan sewaktu aku tengah menyaksikan cerekarama di TV3. (dah lupa tengok cerita apa). Waktu sudah pukul 10.30 mlm.Abah dan arwah Ma menyuruhku bersiap2 utk ke hospital setelah aku mengadu sakit. Jadi aku pun bersiap2 sambil menghantar sms kepada suamiku yg ketika itu berada di rumah keluarganya di Kelana Jaya. Setelah sampai di HUSM, Kubang Kerian, aku dimasukkan ke bhgn emergency. Apabila diperiksa rupa2nya servikku belum betul2 terbuka. Ketika itu hanya 3 cm bukaan. Jadi, aku terpaksa bermalam disitu. Arwah Ma menemaniku dan dia tidur di bilik pelawat. Mlm itu aku tak lena tidur kerana ada ketikanya aku merasa terlalu sakit.
Keesokan harinya, suamiku sampai di HUSM setelah menaiki AIR ASIA. Dia dan arwah ma bergilir2 mengurut blkgku dan mengusap2 kepalaku. Ketika itu aku merasa bahagia sekali kerana ada org2 tersayang yg menemani. Aku juga berulang kali diminta ke bilik pemeriksaan utk melihat bukaan. Oleh kerana aku sudah tidak sanggup lagi untuk menunggu, pada pkl 10 mlm (9 Januari 2005), aku meminta jururawat yg bertugas utk berbuat sesuatu. Jadi, beliau telah memecahkan air ketuban dna menyuruhku berjln turun ke bilik bersalin yg terletak di tingkat bawah. Aku masih mampu berjalan dan apabila sampai sahaja di bilik bersalin, suamiku telah bersedia menunggu utk menemaniku di sana. Dari pkl 10 mlm hingga 12 tgh mlm aku mengalami kontraksi. Suamiku tak putus2 meminta aku berselawat dan membaca doa. Aku juga sedar yg aku tidak perlu menjerit walaupun aku betul2 sakit. Jadi aku hanya berselawat sambil mengengam erat tgn suamiku.
Lebih kurang pukul 2 pg, aku rasa seperti mahu membuang air besar. Aku rasa memang telah sampai masanya utk anakku keluar melihat dunia. Kami ditinggalkan sebentar oleh doktor dan jururawat bertugas kerana pada masa yg sama ada seorang lg ibu di bilik sebelah yg tengah mengerang kesakitan. Dengan hanya sekali tolak, kepala anakku telah terkeluar da suamiku begitu terkejut dan terus memanggil doktor yg bertugas. Doktor dan jururawat yg bertugas bergegas dtg menyambut kelahiran anakku. Alhamdulillah semuanya selamat dan aku merasa bahagia sekali apabila buat pertama kali mendengar tangisan anakku. Suamiku juga mengucap dahiku dan bersyukur atas kelahiran anak kami.
Kelahiran Fathini sememangnya akan menjadi kenangan yg tidak mungkin dilupakan kerana sewaktu itulah aku betul2 terasa dekat dgn arwah Ma. Arwah Ma sanggup bermalam di hospital keranaku dan apabila cucu pertamanya lahir, bia sudah kepenatan dah tertidur sewaktu kami menghantar sms sehingga 8 kali utk memberitahu tentang kelahiran cucunya. Apabila aku melahirkan anak keduaku Hafizah di Hamilton, New Zealand aku begitu inginkan arawh ma dapat berada disisiku. Aku hanya mampu menghantar sms mengatakan " I wish you are here Ma". "I miss you so much". Aku kehilangan arwah Ma dua hari selepas anak keduaku menyambut harijadinya yg pertama.
I want to share a little bit about my princesses; Fathini and Hafizah. Fathini who is 4 years old, can't wait to grow older and be 5. Hafizah who is 2, still consider herself as a baby as she knows she's the little one. When they are playing nicely with each other, I can have my own time doing other things. (including blogging. hehehe). But when they are bickering, shouting at each other or starting to hit each other, I always find myself torn as I don't know what to do. All the books about parenting will be useless as the techniques are not really suitable to all children. Most of the time, I will tell them to stop hitting each other, stop shoutingand bickering.
Both of them are quite good in using English now. Maybe because of the influence from their peers in Peachgrove Playcentre. Plus they are at the age where they can easily absorb languages. Sometimes they sounded so funny when they tried to use English and Bahasa Melayu at the same time. For example, HAfizah usually says "Mama, nak milk please". Fathini will use a word in Bahasa Melayu when she is not sure like "Mama, I want to go to my friend's rumah". We (my hubby and I) want them to be able to converse both in Bahasa Melayu and English. I want them, if possible to be able to kecek kelate too. (Am I too demanding?hmmm).
What's interesting when they are at this age is watching them beceming more creative and exploring new things on their own. Fathini attends Peachgrove Palycentre 3x a week. Hafizah 2x a week. They have learnt heaps of interesting things there and without a doubt, I myself have picked up some ideas. That's why I like to spent my time at a dollar store and buy some supplies for my kids at home. They have papers, colouring books, colouring pens and pencils, puzzles, some crafts and some other knick-knacks. They also have blocks and other educational toys. (org lain pun mesti beli banyak toys utk anak2 jugak kan). Sometimes, I just let them use their imagination when they play. It's not hard to do as we can relate to our own childhood games when it comes to imagination. My princesses used their chairs and it became a bus. They used their blankets to build a castle or make a cave. They used the coffee table as their little bed. They liked to hide behind the sofa and pretended that it was their home!.
I'm happier that I have this opportunity to spend my time with my little princesses now. When Fathini was little, I missed a lot of things as I worked from 8-4 Mondays-Fridays. I know that I want to go back to work but at the same time how I wish I could have time with my family too. I'm sure lots of women out there have the same dilemma. It's not easy to be a woman right?
1.(Pintu depan) 2.(Dr pandangan luar ruang tamu) Salam semua. Hari ni rasa macam gatal2 tgn jugak nak taip something. Setelah difikir2kan, akhirnya aku pun buat keputusan untuk menayangkan sedikit gambar2 rumah sewaku di New Zealand ni. Kenapa nak tunjuk ye, hmmmm sebenarnya nak berkongsi je pasal rumah2 kat sini.
Kat New Zealand ni, kebanyakan rumah diaorg kecik2 jer. Sbbnya diaorg ni nak buat rumah mahal sgt. Jadinya sewa pun mahal sgt2. Kami menyewa rumah lama (dibina dr thn 70 -an), dgn kadar sewa NZD $270 seminggu. Ya.. seminggu! Kalau sebulan cubala hitung sendiri. Rumah kami ada 2 bilik tidur, satu bilik air, satu ruang tamu, ruang makan dan dapur. Cuma yg paling seronok, ada laman yg luas. Tempat anak2 boleh bermain. Kat dlm taman ada banyak sgt statues (Patung2 batu berwarna putih). Kami pernah buat jamuan makan (BBQ) di taman kami tu. Seronokla kalau masa summer. Masa winter ni sejukla. Jarang2 dpt turun kat taman. 3.(Tingkap ruang mkn &dapur) 4.(taman)

Yg tak bagusnya, kebanyakan rumah di sini, tak betul2 dibina untuk tahan dgn cuaca. Sepatutnya rumah2 disini perlu ada insulations kat dinding, lantai dan tingkap2 perlu ada "double glazing". Tapi kebanyakan rumah takde semua tu. Jadi, masa winter ni, sejuk ler sgt2. Kalau tak pasang heater, boleh beku duduk dlm rumah ni. Yg ada asthma (atau lelah), memang tak tahan sbb selalula kena masa winter. Cold atau Flu pun memang dah jadi sbhgn asam garam di masa winter.
Berbalik kpd rumah, kami selalu juga ada masalah2. Mula masuk, masalah tandas yg tak berfungsi. Dekat 6 bln jugak, kena pakai baldi utk simbah air. Lps tu paip bocor dlm bilik basuhan. Bila cakap kat agen, nasib baik diaorg cepat2 hantar org baiki. Oh! yg bagusnya, kebanyakan rumah diuruskan oleh agensi. Setiap rumah akan ada agen yg akan uruskan. Apa2 masalah telefon je agen. Yg terbaru, masalah tikus! hii........Aku memang geli dgn tikus. Memang pernah ternampak tikus kat dapur. 2 bln lps ada satu lubang tikus, dah ada org dtg tampal lubang tu. Seminggu lps, ada lubang baru. Kami masih tunggu org yg nak dtg baiki.

Apa2 pun kami tak sabar nak balik Malaysia dan beli rumah sendiri. Kami masih belum membeli rumah kerana selalu berpindah-randah. Kalau dah ada rumah nanti, teringin juga nak ada taman. Sempit pun takpe asal ada sedikit ruang.

(how time flies) Details about the photo: This photo was taken during our 5th anniversary which was also my hubby's 29th birthday last year (2008) . We always had double celebration as our wedding date was on the same date as my hubby's birthday. (bukan betul2 rancang, kebetulan tahun kami kawin, jatuh tarikh tu. masa tu raya keempat). The location of the photo was in our dining room in our rented house in Hamilton, New Zealand. It was my first attempt of decorating the cake with lots of icing. Well, it didn't look so neat however my hubby liked it. My daughters were happy to eat the cake without really understand why we were celebrating. My sister-in-law was the one who asked us to pose like that. She asked my hubby to give me a peck and I was happy to pose along. That's it about the photo. Today was the first day we went to Peachgrove Playcentre again after the school holidays ended. It's good to see the familiar faces there. I also found out about the additional team member for the Thursday team. Hmmm an extra member was always come in handy.
My team members hadn't had any chance to meet and discuss our planning for this term. Well, we always kind of laid back. So, we decided that we are going to have our planning meeting by this week. I already had some ideas for this term. I want to suggest to my team members of doing painting and decorating on old t-shirts, making mobiles using shells and other materials we already have, doing aerobic with the kids and of course doing some cool stuffs like little experiments.
Joining and having the chance to volunteer in Peachgrove Playcentre had always saved me from getting bored. I like the idea of parents run the place and do all the work. They also offer heaps of free courses for the parents. This kind of thing should be expended to other countries. I'm thinking that we should have this kind of thing in Malaysia. However, we need the supports and sponsorship from the government as here in New Zealand, playcentres are sponsored by New Zealand government. That's why the parents only pay about NZD $30-$40 per term. (each term is about 10 weeks).
I'm interested to know if any of you readers out there know about the current situation regarding kindergartens and nurseries in Malaysia. I can share some of my experiences here as I also plan to further my study when I go back to Malaysia. I'm interested in looking at pre-school education. I want to do M.Sc TESL in UPM but pre-schooling has always been my interest.
Semalam (19 Julai 2009), kami ada ajak kawan-kawan dalam 3, 4 famili datang ke rumah. Sajerla buat "Periuk Bertuah"(POTLUCK). Lepas tu my hubby ada agenda jugakla. Dia nak cadangkan buat commitee utk sambut orang-orang baru yang nak sambung belajar di Waikato University. Selama ni kalau ada orang-orang baru sampai, kami yang dah lama kat sini, bergilir-gilir menyambut dan memberi pertolongan kepada mereka.
Okay berbalik kepada potluck tadi, aku telah menyediakan nasi kerabu kuning (resipi turun menurun dari arwah mak). Lauk-lauk untuk nasi kerabu pula ada tumis, mumbu, ayam goreng, ikan kerin, sayur2 dan of course budu. (kalu tak dok budu buke nasi kerabula). Kawan-kawan yg lain ada bawa mee rebus, kek, kuih-muih, keropok ikan, ayam masak pedas dan kari daging. Kira meriahla dgn makanan. Oh ye, yg dtg Izhar,Hanna dan anak2, Zaini, Adibah dan anak2, K.Jun, Kamilah & Adlan, Ruhaya, Yusman , anak mereka, Yati dan Nazlah(kwn baik Fathini). (kwn2 tengah syok makan) (tu tengah khusyuk buat perbincangan)
Kami mula makan-makan dari pukul 1.30. Sambil-sambil makan, macam2 cerita yang dikongsi. Lps tu my hubby pun ada juga tanya pada kawan2 yg dtg jika mereka berminat nak jadi AJK untuk comittee yg aku sebutkan tadi. Alhamdulillah masing2 memberi reaksi positif. My hubby lega sgt sbb dapat serahkan sikit2 tugas pada keluarga2 yg masih baru kat Hamilton ni. Sblm ni keluarga2 yg dah lama kat sini yg selalu buat. Kami yg lama2 ni dah nak balik Msia. Jadi kami tak naklah tradisi ni hilang begitu je bila kami balik. Sambil kami makan2, anak2 ada kerja diaorg sendiri. Kami dah longgokkan semua toys anak2 kami kat satu tempat. Jadi budak2 habis je makan, mereka pun pergi kat bilik tu dan main sama2. (tengokla budak2 dah seronok main tu)
Aku pun ada agenda aku juga. Aku nak berkenalan dgn K.Jun yg dah 2 bln dtg kat sini. Sblm ni selalu tak berkebetulan nak bersua muka. So, smlm dptla mengenali beliau dgn lebih dekat. Yg seronoknya, bila dah duduk jauh dr Msia ni, kitaorg memang rasa rapat sbb kalau tak berkawan rapat dgn org2 Msia, susahla nak mintak tolong kan. Lagi satu, kalau terasa teringin masakan Msia, memang selalu buat majlis atau jamuan makan mcm nilah. Yelah, mana ada pasar malam kat sini. Nasib baikla, yg lain2 pun rajin nak mencuba masakan2 Msia. Aku sendiri memang selalu buat eksperiman memasak ni. Yg tukang rasa, of course my hubby dan anak2 la. (tukang kritik tu).
Majlis makan2 kami berakhir lebih kurang pkl 4 ptg. Yelah skrg masih lagi winter jadi pkl 4 tu macam dah pkl 6 kat Msia. Kami seronok bila dpt buat majlis macam ni. Sebenarnya nilah cara kami nak bersedekah. Lagi elok bersedekah dgn menjamu org makan. Ikatan silaturrahim lg kuat, pahala pun dapat. (Insyaallah).
Kali ini aku nak cuba masuk Peraduan Kisah dan Lagu anjuran mama manja. Macam best lak peraduan ni. Setelah difikir-fikirkan, ditimbang-timbangkan dan ditelikkan (dlm bekas kemeyan berasap. hahaha), aku membuat keputusan untuk memilih lagu "Truly, Madly, Deeply" by Savage Garden. Lagu ni fofular masa aku tengah belajar di PPP/ITM. Semestinya lagu ini ada kaitan dgn kisah hindustanku dgn suami tercinta. (hihihih malu lak rasa nak korek cerita lama).

All right dah habis dah lirik lagu. Mari layan kisah aku yang berkaitan dengan lagu ini. Tersebutlah al-kisah 10 tahun dulu (1999), aku dan suamiku (masa tu baru pakwela), di suruh menyanyi di satu majlis makan malam Kelab Taekwondo di Hotel UiTM. Kami masih lagi baru menjalinkan hubungan dan sememangnya rakan-rakan telah mulai perasan tentang perhubungan kami. Pada mulanya, suamiku (pakwe masa tu), beria-ia menolak jemputan menyanyi tu. Setelah dipujuk-pujuk, dijampi-jampi(eh bila pulak aku pandai menjampi ni), akhirnya dia bersetuju.
Pada masa itu, aku hanya berpeluang untuk memilih beberapa buah lagu saja. (yelah masa tu kawan bawa kaset sikit je). Setelah dibelek-belek, aku rasa lagu "Truly, Madly, Deeply" memang sesuai untuk kami. Aku memang suka lagu ni, dan memang aku dah hafal liriknya. Kesian suamiku (sekali lg pakwe masa tu), yang memang tak tahu menahu dengan lagu ni. (Dia minat hard rock tak layan lagu2 jiwang macam ni).
Jadi, bila kaset dah terpasang, kami pun menyanyila. Sedap tak sedap tu dah belakang kira sebab masa tu memang asyik masyuk dilamun cinta. Menyanyi dengan penuh perasaan. (aku la kot yang lebih2. hehe). Bila dah habis menyanyi, kawan-kawan semua bertepuk tangan memberi sokongan. Malu-malu kucing aku dan suamiku (pakwe). Nasib baik tak ada pun yang boo kami.
Lirik lagu ni betul-betul membawa makna tersendiri kerana setelah hampir 6 tahun bercinta, putus cinta (2 kali terpaksa putus kerana halangan keluarga), akhirnya kami disatukan pada tanggal 28 November 2003. Sekarang sudah hampir 6 tahun juga kami mendirikan rumahtangga. Alhamdulillah kami masih bahagia hingga ke hari ini lebiih-lebih lagi setelah dikurniakan dua orang puteri yang comel lote. ( puji anak sendiri. )

Ini kerana kami berdua memang tak pernah bercinta dengan orang lain sebelum itu. Ini memang cinta pertama kami dan harap-harapnya yang terakhirla. Sejak berjumpa di waktu pergi berkhemah di Pulau Pangkor dengan member-member kelab Taekwondo PPP/ITM (1997-1999), kami sedar yang kami ada keserasian. Walaupun kami belum mencecah usia 20 tahun di waktu itu, kami rasa yang kami memang ditakdirkan untuk hidup bersama. Masing-masing memang dah tak boleh nak pandang atau nak suka pada orang lain dah masa tu. Cuma satu isu yang aku timbulkan iaitu isu usia. Suamiku (pakwe) muda setahun dariku. Tapi bagi suamiku usia bukan penghalang. Aku juga sedar yang dia tidaklah berperangai atau berlagak seperti rakan-rakan kami yang sebaya dengannya. Aku mampu mengenepikan isu usia itu setelah di yakinkan oleh suamiku. (hehe sebenarnya tak yakin pada diri sendiri. yelah masa tu pun ramai budak-budak perempuan yang lain yang lebih muda dan cantik).
P/S: harap-harap entry ni akan dapat perhatian mama manja. Adikku Yati Chomeyl ada bagi komen sblm aku tulis entri ni yang aku suka buat entri berbaur serius jer. dah nak buat macammana aku memang orang yang serius.

Today (15 July 2009), we had another playgroup session at my house. I invited some of my Malaysians friends over to make some muffins. (sebenarnya mak2 bercerita, bergossip sambil bg anak2 main). We started at half past ten. We gathered at the dining table after I've put all the ingredients that were needed for the muffins. I chose the simplest muffin recipe as we wanted to involve our kids throughout the processes.
The first thing to do was to arrange the cups in the baking tray. We began with the beating of an egg with 125 g of butter. Farah, Nazlah and Fathini took turn in beating the egg mixture. Then, Aisya helped me by putting 2 cups of self-raising flour and 1/2 cup of sugar in a big bowl. Next, I asked Aisya to make a hole in the middle of the flour, the other kids helped to pour the egg mixture into the big bowl. They also took turn in mixing the ingredients before I put 2/3 of milk. The next step was the most interesting step for them. It was time to put some chocolate bits. Each kids grabbed some chocolate bits and put some into the big bowl. Then, again they took turn to stir all the ingredients. When it was time to put into the cups, only Fathini and Nazlah stayed to help as the others can't wait to go back to the living room to play.
After 25 minutes in the oven, the mini muffins were ready. The kids couldn't wait to try them. But we (the mums) asked them to let the muffins to cool off. In just few minutes later, they ate most of the muffins. I also baked another batch for the adults. We enjoyed eating while the kids enjoyed playing together.
P/S: mesti semua pelik kenapa asyik2 masak je. well, kebetulan anak2 kami semua perempuan dan skrg winter. tak boleh nak main kat luar sbb sejuk. makan jer ler nak bg panas badan. hEhe.
Last Saturday (11 July 2009), we (my hubby, my daughters and I) went to Hamilton Zoo. (mesti ramai yg pelik kenapa pergi zoo pun nak tulis kat sini kan). It's actually the winter season now in New Zealand. So, we did something bizarre when we decided to go there. We invited few Malaysians friends to come along and join us but none showed up. Well, maybe they thought it was not a wise idea to visit the zoo during winter.
We were the first family to arrive there as we didn't want to be caught in a rain. According to the weather forecast that day, the rain would come in the afternoon. We arrived there at 8.45. The place was opened at 9.10 a.m. So, we waited in the car while having our breakfast. (makan rice wheels jer). By 9.10 a.m. we went inside to buy the tickets. We bought the family pass tickets which costed about NZD$36.
The first thing that we saw inside the main building was the souvenir shop (kat situ jugak beli tiket). Then, we saw the cafe. As we go further, we could see some birds and little monkeys. Hafizah, my youngest daughter was afraid when she heard the birds. She was screaming and crying when we stop for a while to see the birds. Then we saw two different kinds of lemurs, wild cat, swans, ducks, alpacas, kune-kune pigs, lizards, zebras, ostriches, giraffes and rhinos. (dah malas nak taip pjg2la ni). As we go along to see each animals, we could see that they were kind of lazy. Some were hiding like the two chimpanzees that we saw hiding in a bush. Some were sleeping. So, we tried to be as quiet as possible. We didn't want to disturb them. We even switch off the flash of our camera when we took the pictures. Below are some pictures of the animals. Well, there were other pictures as well but I think these pictures would be enough here. (takut kan bosan pulak tengok gambar2 binatag ni. hehehe).
After about 2 hours of walking around, we stopped at the cafe and had our lunch. We didn't actually eat in the cafe because we brought our own food. (macammana nak makan, ada bercampur ham dgn bacon). I had prepared 'bihun goreng' or fried noodles. Well, when we ate it, itwas so freaking cold but we were hungry and we just ate. We also had some juices. My hubby and I bought two cups of cappucino from the cafe. (tak fasal2 bila balik rumah pening2 lalat sbb kami ni bukan selalu minum kopi. tapi dah nak minuman panas, beli je apa yg ada kat situ). Fathini played at the nearby playground after she has eaten her lunch. My hubby looked after her. I waited for Hafizah to wake up as she took a nap before we went to see zebras, ostriches and spring boks. She woke up few minutes after I finished eating. She was starving too because she was able to finished the rest of our food. Then, it was time for us to go. We left the zoo at about 12.15. My daughters and I had visited Hamilton Zoo before with our playcentre friends but we had a different experinces when we visited the zoo again with my hubby. Plus it was during winter and the last time we went was during the Spring where it was quite warm.
Kali ini, aku terasa nak menulis tentang gelagat2 orang di dunia ni. Haa...mcmla perangai aku ni elok sgt. Sebenarnya aku teringat suka sgt dgn lagu Farra ni. Sayang je lps satu lagu, dia dah tak popular sgt. Lagu ni memang jadi kegilaan ramai org. Aku pun termasuk dlm senarai org2 yg gilakan lagu ni.
Aku suka maksud tersirat lagu ni. Kita ni selalu berangan2 nak hidup senang lenang dan tak perlu bersusah payah. Kalau boleh nak hidup macam seorang Puteri kan? Aku pun ada juga berangan masa kecik2 la sbb terpengaruh dgn cerita2 dongeng "Princesses". "They live happily ever after". Yeah right! Cuba kita tengok puteri2 yg sebenar. Betul2 ke diaorg tu hidup senang lenang jer. The Late Princess Diana, meninggal accident. Sblm tu, ada masalah bulimia, suami ada affair dgn perempuan lain lps tu hidup asyik kena kejar dgn paparazzi. Tak seronok jugak hidup mcm tu. Princesses yg lain pun, duit ada banyak tapi hidup diaorg masih tak happy.
Aku pulak selalu terjumpa org2 yg malas nak buat apa. Duduk je, malas nak fikir pasal masa depan, hidup ingat nak seronok jer. Memang tak ingat dosa pahala. Kalau boleh semua benda nak suruh ada depan mata je. Aku yg memang diajar dr kecik, kalau nak sesuatu kena berusaha sendiri ni, selalu je ada konflik dgn org2 mcm tu. Selalu je jumpa kat sekolah (sekolah asrama), kat rumah sendiri (sedara-mara) dan of course jumpa kat tempat2 lain juga. Kalau boleh memang nak buat tak tahu je kat diaorg tapi dah memang aku pun dasar busy body, kdg2 memang tak boleh elak mesti nak laserkan je. Korang rasa aku dengki ke? Mungkin kot. Satu lg, aku nak sedarkan diaorg yg hidup ni bukan utk bersenang lenang je.
Aku memang sedar yg aku tak banyak kwn rapat. Kalau yg betul2 rapat, memang kwn2 sejati. Sbb aku memang tak suka ada ramai2 kwn tapi kwn yg tak boleh diharap. Nak tumpang masa kita senang je. Masa kita susah lari. Setakat ni, alhamdulillah, aku ada kwn2 yg boleh diharapkan masa senang dan masa susah.
Skrg ni, aku berusaha nak mendidik anak2 aku supaya jadi org2 yg tahu bahawasanya hidup ni ada senang dan ada susah. Masa susahla, kita perlu menggunakan akal fikiran kita dan berusaha untuk mengubah kesusahan kita tu. Lps tu kita berserah kepada Allah. Aku juga selalu mengingatkan adik2 aku tentang hakikat ini. Setakat ini, mereka semua ok. Aku juga bernasib baik krn mendapat suami sanggup bersusah2 dahulu bersenang2 kemudian. Aku rasa kita akan lebih menghargai hidup ni kalau kiat dah mengalami pelbagai kesusahan. Kesenangan yg dtg kemudian tu akan lebih manis kan?
Oklah. Dah puas hati boleh luahkan perasaan yg terbuku kat sini. Sebenarnya ini adalah entri untuk meluahkan perasaan dah menyindir secara halus dan kasar (kasar ke?) org yg selalu tak sedar diri. Kalau ada yg terasa, terasalah. Aku cuma nak sedarkan je. Jgn jadi dah terhantuk baru nak terngadah. (betul ke ni? dah lama tak guna perumpamaan Melayu ni).
Yesterday, (8July 2009) we had a wonderful time at my house. I organized a playgroup for Malaysians here (well, I just invited few friends as most of my friends were busy with their studies). We made pizzas with yummy toppings. Thanks to my friends who brought along some ingredients, we were able to make pizzas, mashed potato and salad. I made the pizza base at 9 a.m. as my friends came at 10 a.m. Two of my friends showed up with their kids at 10.20 a.m. Altogether we had 5 little girls who were excited to make their own pizzas.
Those are the pictures during the activity. I didn't really had chance to take a lot of pictures as I was busy helping them as well. My friends, Hanna and Ruhaya were helping their daughters. It's good to see how they made their own decisions in choosing what to put on their doughs. For example Fathini (my eldest daughter) chose BBQ sauce as the base, chicken and some beef, 2 slices of tomatoes, few cuts of diced pineapples and of course lots of grated cheese. Nazlah (my friend's daughter(Masleyati)), chose tomato sauce, beef, tuna, pineapples, mushrooms with some grated cheese. My youngest daughter Hafizah, chose tomato sauce, beef (too much!), mushrooms, tomatoes and lots of grated cheese too. Hanani (Ruhaya's daughter), chose BBQ sauce, some beef, chicken, capsicums and some grated cheese. Lastly, Aisya (Hanna's daughter), chose tomato sauce, chicken, beef, mushrooms and grated cheese.
I also made three large pizzas for the adults. Unfortunately, Ruhaya and Hanani had to go back early as Hanani was so sleepy by 12 o'clock. So, I packed her pizza with some mashed potato. After the first batch of pizzas were ready, the kids joined us at the table to try out their own pizzas. They really liked their pizzas. My daughters were able to finish their pizzas but other kids got some helps from their mothers.
That was the first time, I try to involve kids in making pizzas. I reckon the experience was a good one for them. Maybe next time, we'll try other cooking. Hmmm....I have to figure it out for the next playgroup session.
If u have read my entry before regarding my plans, u definately know that I have lots of plan to occupy my kids during this school holidays. Today(7 July 2009), I've started with the first one. We (my kids, my friend's kid and I) made chocolate chip cookies. Well, I prepared the cookie dough and asked the children to help me by putting the cookies on the baking sheets.

They were so excited to be able to help me as they had some opportunities to do some baking in their schools too. They really listened to my instructions. However, my youngest daughter, Hafizah was just watching us. She might be too little to join in this kind of activity. I might try to involve her in other activities. We were able to bake four batches of choc. chip cookies. (The process of baking the cookies)
We waited for about 25 minutes before we could try the first batch of the cookies. Of course, the kids couldn't wait to try the cookies. When the cookies were ready, the kids were gobbling (not really eating) even though I asked them to make sure that the cookies were not too hot. After they have gobbled about 3-4 cookies each, they resumed with their playing activities. The cookies that they made were actually quite big compared to what I used to do. But, I was happy because I could involve them in the process.

I can share the recipe here. But I have to tell you that my late mum got this recipe from somewhere. We've been using this recipe for a long time and it's a must for our family to have this cookies during Eid. (Raya Posa).
Chocolate Chip Cookies The Ingredients
100g brown sugar
112g caster sugar
150g butter/margarine
2 eggs
285g standard flour
175g choc chip
60g walnut (I used almonds as I prefer almonds)
25g dessicated coconut
2.5g salt
2.5g vanilla essence
The methods
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
Beat the melted butter with the brown sugar and caster sugar.
Break one egg, beat again. Then, break the second one before you beat again.
Next, put some flour, choc chip, walnut (or almonds) n dessicated coconut. Put each ingredients bit by bit and mix them.
Use two teaspoons to scoop out some dough and put each one on the baking sheet.
The cookies should be ready after 20-25 minutes or they look brown enough.

Mesin jah ikan (guno mackerel sbb ike lain maha dooh di Hamilton, NZ nih) dgn bwe meroh dekat2 5-6 ulah. Mesin dgn sa'te sekali biar hacur molek. Lps tu tumbuk sikit lado benar (lada hitam). Bubuh dle kuoh. Oh, kuoh tadi bubuhla dle puyuk. Pahtu bukokla api. Jge lupo bubuh ase keping seket. Biar kuoh didih. Pahtu bubuhla gare sesedak raso. Bilo nok wat lakse, keno guno tepung berah dgn sikit tepung gandum. Kalu 2 cwn tepung beras, 2 sudu tepung gandum. Campur 1/2 cwn air panah. Gaul seket. Lps tu bubuh pulok 5 1/2 cwn air sejuk. Gaul lg sampai takdok tepung ketul2. Biasonyo ore kukuh lakse ni. Tapi ambo tak dok puyuk kukuh. Jadi, ambo masok dle microwave! Ni idea dr sain K.As.8*timo kasih K.As*. Ambo guno pingge kaco leper. Sapuh seket minyok atas pingge. Lps tu bubuhla so senduk adunan tepung takdi. Masok dlm 3 menet dgn High Temp. Bilo siap, biar sejuk sikit baru bulih nok gulung dgn kerat kecik2. Tok laki ambo berehi make ni biar pon dio buke ore Kelate. Anok2 ambo pun berehi. Jadi, bulihla wat lg semula2. Kalu ore2 lain hok baco ni nok tra, tra la wat sediri. Sene jah. Pahtu nok sedak lg make dgn sambal lado kering. hmmm yum2x.

THREE JOBS I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE:
My first ever job was as an English Tutor at Pusat Bahasa &Terjemahan, Kampus Kejuruteraan USM, Sbrg Prai, Penang. Kerja kat sana dekat2 5 thn right after my graduation.
My second job was as an English Teacher at ELS,KL. I taught international students from Saudi Arabia, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Yemen, Iran, China and other countries as well. Best jugakla kerja kat situ cuma gaji mcm ciput sikit sbb aku kerja part time jer.
My third job would be as SAHM (Stay at Home Mom) given by my beloved hubby. AKu kena ikut my hubby yg tengah bertungkus-lumus menyiapkan thesis PHD dia dlm bidang biologi. Jgn tanya banyak2 pasal bidang my hubby sbb aku bukan tahu sgt. Kalau tanya dia pun, dia malas nak explain. Mentang2 bidang aku bidang Social Science.
THREE PLACES I HAVE LIVED:
Seberang Prai Selatan: sewa rumah kat satu taman perumahan. dah lupa apa nama taman tu. Mula2 sewa dgn officemates. Lps tu bila dah kawin, sewa dgn my hubby. Tapi dia balik hjg minggu jer.
Kelana Jaya: Duduk kat rumah mak mertua sbb my hubby tahu tak lama sgt dia nak dpt offer sambung belajar. Lama jugakla duduk sebenarnya, dekat2 sthn lebih. My eldest daughter memang rapat dgn opah dia sbb dr kecik tinggal serumah. Mesti org2 lain heran mcmmana boleh duduk dgn mak mertua kan? Haa...ok je sbb my MIL tu was a lecturer in UPM. Lps tu aku pun pandai2la bawak diri kat rumah tu.
Hamilton, New Zealand: It's where we have been staying for the past 2 1/2 years. Sblm dtg, rasa seronok sbb tak pernah duduk oversea. Tapi bila dah duduk sini, rasa nak balik Msia cepat2. Tak tahan masa winter, sejuk menggigil2x. Tu tak de salji kat North Island ni. Masa summer, panas dia terik dan boleh kena skin cancer kalau berjemur lama2 tengah panas.
THREE TV SHOWS THAT I WATCH:
Desperate Housewives: Dah lama suka tengok since the first episode. Walaupun cerita dia dah makin mengarut, tapi still tengok. Biasala kalau dah lama sgt, script writers pun tak de idea.
Grey's Anatomy: Tengok dr Msia lg. Suka tengok doctors tapi bila part operation, aku takut sikit. Aku pernah pengsan lps kena ambik darah masa sekolah dulu. teruk kan? hehe
Majalah 3: Banyak informasi kat situ. Aku tak tahula program masih wujud ke tak. Tapi ini antara program Melayu yg aku suka. Masa kecik2 ingat lg Wan Zaleha Radzi yg jadi pengacaranya.
THREE PLACES I WANT TO GO (right now):
South Island: banyak tempat2 menarik kat South Island mcm Christchurch & Dunedin. Lps tu menurut kwn2 kat sini yg dah pergi, pemandangan kat sana lg menarik. Lain sikit dr North Island ni.
Malaysia: nak balik negara sendiri! I'm so homesick after 2 1/2 years. Aku tak tahula mcmana ada org2 Msia kat sini yg sanggup berhijrah dan kerja kat sini. Tapi maybe situasi diaorg lain kot. Aku ni rapat dgn my family. Dahla thn lps mak meninggal. Tak sempat nak mintak maaf dan menatap wajah arwah. huhuhuhu
Fukuoka, Jepun: nak pergi tengok anak sedara first. Adik perempuan aku baru lg melahirkan anak sbln yg lps. Tak ada can lg nak pegang anak sedara. Bilala ada rezeki nak berjalan ke sana.
THREE OF MY FAVORITE FOODS:
Nasi Kerabu: my peberet dr kecik2. Tiap2 pg, abah selalu belikan nasi kerabu "samah" (50 sen). Tak percaya? Kat Kg Jal Besar(cewah promote nama kg sendiri), ada lg nasi bungkus yg dijual murah2. Tapi nasi bungkus tak banyak laukla.

Omelette: kalau ada nasi baru masak dgn telur ni pun aku dah boleh makan nasi. Tak tahula kenapa suka sgt. Tapi bulan posa biasanya, kalau tak lalu bersahur mesti bangun goreng telur ni.

Nak buat Master in Education. hubby dah janji nak tanggung aku belajar. cuma rasanya aku mesti nak cari part time income sikit kot sambil2 belajar sbb meme aku dasar tak reti duduk diam. kat sini pun, ada je buat kerja sikit2. pernah buat translation, org tempah kek dan yg terbaru nanti ada kwn nak suruh babysitting. tapi anak dia bukan baby pun dah umur 4 thn. hehe

Martial arts sports: I used to be active in Taekwondo. (sebenarnya jumpa my hubby masa masuk kelab taekwondo kat PPP/ITM). Now, I can only watch sparrings during major sports events like in Olympics, Commonwealtg Games, Sea Games.
Gymnastics: I love to watch the gracefullness and all the techniques theh have.
Football: I just watch it if the team is from my hometown or my country.

tea: It's a must for us to have tea during the afternoon. mcm British pulak kan yg suka minum teh. hehe
Milo: I drink Milo every morning. Now my kids also love to drink it. (Milo kat NZ lain sikit dr Milo Msia tau. kat sini lg banyak cocoa. Kat Msia, dah ada tambah susu dlm Milo tu).
fruit juices: any kinds of juice. selalunya yg masam2 lg aku suka.

Name: Hafizah binti Ariff Age: 2 years old (baru je lps bday 22 Jun hr tu) Date of birth: 22 June 2007 Something about the car seat picture: Well, the picture was recently taken today after we came back from Peachgrove Playcentre. (tempat anak2 saya bersekolah disini (NZ) ). She was quite sleepy and that's why she looked tired and gave me the boring look. I had to snap this picture as she doesn't have any other recent picture in her car seat. My opinion about the use of car seat for babies/children: I reckon it's the best safety measure for little ones. Here in New Zealand, it's a must for babies and children until the age of seven. (if I'm not mistaken). I've been using a car seat since 2005 when I first had my eldest daughter. During that time, I was still working in USM, Penang, Malaysia. When we use a car seat, we don't really need to worry about our little ones and if we are travelling on a long journey, we don't have to hold our baby or child when they fall asleep. They also feel much more comfortable.
